Interview with Filip Ferianec: On movement, regeneration and the power of hydration
Interview with physiotherapist Filip Ferianec about physiotherapy
How did you get into physiotherapy?
I got into physiotherapy due to circumstances and a liking for movement rooted in the fact that my father was a weightlifter in Dukla Trenčín and he always led us to movement. In high school I was also interested in nutrition and biology, what is related to it. I was fascinated by the human body and movement, and that's how I got into it.
Was there a turning point that led you to do this?
It's hard to say if there was one turning point. Rather, it was multiple realizations that pieced themselves together. The joy of the work only came with actually working with people.
What does your working day look like?
My working day is varied. It mostly consists of exercising with people, introducing them to the world of movement and informing them about what they are missing in their daily exercise routine. Manual therapies, such as mobilisations, massage, banking and similar techniques are also part of the day.
What mistakes do people make after seeing you?
They often ignore or don't begin to implement basic elements important for change - for example, working with breathing or incorporating regular movement into daily life. As a result, they don't develop the right stereotypes and their nervous system doesn't learn the beneficial patterns that would promote overall change and improvement.
How do you take care of your recovery?
I admit that my recovery care could be better, especially when it comes to sleep. I often don't get enough quality rest because I have other time-consuming interests. I try to move, eat a good diet, and supplement with minerals and beneficial substances, but it's not always ideal. The best recovery for me is time with my partner.
What do aliver waters do for you?
They bring me a comfortable and varied form of hydration. They are unique because they contain 82 minerals, which is what our bodies really need. I appreciate that most of them contain no sugar or artificial sweeteners. I also like to give them to clients as a post-workout reward - much like when kids get a lollipop after a doctor's visit, I give them water to help with hydration and mineralization.
Do you recommend Space Labs Drinks waters to your clients?
Yes, I do. They know that I drink them myself, and just giving them to them as a reward is a form of recommendation.
What do aliver waters do for you?
They bring me nutritional benefits and a quick, convenient form of hydration. By containing no sugar or sweeteners, they don't make a person thirsty again. I especially use them on trips when I take two or three bottles, and have them on hand whenever I need them.
Do you have a favourite water variant?
Yes, my favourite waters are the fermented ones from Aliver - the berry flavoured ones and the new mango variant. They do contain a bit of sugar, but they taste the best to me and please my palate as well.
Can you think of a time when you felt the importance of hydration?
I feel the need for hydration and mineralization quite often, given that I love to move. The last time it happened to me was the day before yesterday after a workout, when I felt myself passing out in the store and had to take a sip of the juice I had just bought.
How quickly do you feel back in shape after working out with a client?
After a workout or exercise session with a client, I feel fine right away because I enjoy it and it brings me a lot of joy. Of course, sometimes it depends on the client - some can wear a person out with their approach. However, if I am also physically active with the client, then I appreciate a protein or supplement with electrolytes and minerals.
Which waters do you find most beneficial?
I find waters containing a wide variety of minerals and beta-glucan to be the most beneficial, especially after or during a workout, as they promote hydration.
Do you see the effect of bioactive magnesium and calcium more on muscle recovery or vitality?
I perceive the effect not only on muscle regeneration but also on overall vitality, as they support the function of the nervous system and neuromuscular communication, and thus overall vitality.
Is hydration more about energy, concentration or mental well-being for you?
About all three :)
What might be your golden nail argument for recommending aliver bioactive waters?
They are functional and I like the overall concept and approach of their creators :)
